On May 29, 581 Gustavus students graduated on a beautiful day on Hollingsworth Field. Rob Gardner, professor of theatre, received the Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching. Al Annexstad, president and CEO of Federated Insurance and a member of the Board of Trustees, received an honorary doctorate. This recognizes his work with at-risk youth and the scholarship fund his foundation has established at Gustavus to help some of those youth earn a college degree. The first recipient of this scholarship, Amy Abrahamson, was among the graduating seniors.
