In partnership with The Loft in Minneapolis, Gustavus will host distinguished poet and playwright Derek Walcott at the Target Performance Hall for “An Evening with Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott” on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. Walcott, who won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1992, holds this year’s Rydell Professorship at Gustavus. The Rydell Professorship is a scholar-in-residence program designed to bring Nobel laureates and similarly noted scholars to the campus as catalysts for enhancing learning and teaching. The Walcott residency at Gustavus is from Sept. 20 to Oct. 7.
