Voting Information Posted on October 7th, 2016 by

I voted for blogGusties have numerous options to cast their vote either before or on election day, November 8.  The polling place for Gustavus campus residents is at the St. Peter Community Center.  Shuttles will be provided and it is also within walking distance.

Any student who is new to Gustavus or residing in a different room than last year will need to register or re-register to vote if he/she is not from St. Peter and wants to vote in St. Peter on election day.  Go to mnvotes.org, click on “Register to Vote” and then “Register online.”  Use the St. Peter zipcode, 56082, and use the dorm and room number as the street address -NOT 800 West College Ave. (example: in house number write “302”, then in the street pulldown menu select “GAC – Uhler Hall”).  Your student will need their MN driver’s license or ID#.  If they are from out of state and don’t possess either of these two forms of identification, only then they can use the last four digits of their SSN.  It takes only minutes.  If a student gets stuck, encourage them to stop by the Dean of Students Office for assistance.

If your student is registered at home and wants to vote in their home precinct (Minnesota or another state), then they can request an absentee ballot.  Search for your state or county election information online and find where to request an absentee ballot.  A ballot will be mailed to Gustavus and the student must fill it out and mail it back as instructed.  If a MN resident, mnvotes.org has simple instructions.
