Student Health Insurance Reminder Posted on August 16th, 2017 by

All students are required to carry health insurance. All students MUST choose to either ‘Waive’ or ‘Enroll’ in this plan by SEPTEMBER 18, 2017. Students who have not taken action to waive or enroll will be automatically enrolled on Sept 18th. Detailed primary insurance information is needed to complete the waiver.  It takes less than 5 minutes to waive or enroll in the plan.

Please encourage your student to go to https://gustavus.edu/healthservice/studenthealthinsurance/ and choose ‘Waive’ or ‘Enroll’ if they have not already done so.

Students will see a charge of $1699 to their student account for the student health insurance.  Once a waiver is completed the student account will be credited within 5 business days.

The Gustavus Health Service accepts ALL HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS (it is the responsibility of the student to know if the clinic is in or out of network).  The Gustavus Health Service is a contracted provider with the following insurance companies: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Preferred One, Medica, Health Partners, and Minnesota Health Care Programs. If your student has medical insurance from out of state, you may wish to check with the insurance plan to see if they will accept claims from Gustavus Health Service. The Health Service is unable to bill out of state medical assistance plans. If you are enrolled in an out of state medical assistance plan, your student may choose to enroll in a Minnesota plan while they are living in Minnesota.

If you have additional questions about the Gustavus sponsored student health insurance please visit www.firststudent.com or call 1-800-505-4160 to speak with a student health insurance representative.  Health Service can also be reached by calling 507-933-7630.
