Gustavus has captured the 2006-07 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s All-Sports Award. For the Gustie women, it is their fifth All-Sports Award in the last seven seasons. The traveling All-Sports Trophy is awarded annually to the institution that accumulates the best all-sports record during the MIAC academic year.
For the second consecutive season, Gustavus third baseman and graduating senior Tony Konicek has been named to the NCAA Division III All-America First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Konicek was also honored as the Midwest Region Position Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association for the second year in a row. Konicek, a three-time All-MIAC selection and two-time MIAC Most Valuable Player, is the first multiple-time All-American in Gustavus baseball history. Konicek is also the only first-teamer from the MIAC or the Midwest Region.
Tom Thorkelson was named MIAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year. For more information on athletics, go to Athletics.
